Consulting and Coaching
Coaching
I do a lot of coaching, but I don’t actively market these services. I believe in chemistry. Great chemistry is an important ingredient in every successful coaching relationship. You can’t advertise with flyers and coupons and find chemistry and so I don’t. Most of my coaching clients come to me because I have gotten to know them during consulting projects or through my talks, books, and blogs. If you read my stuff, you will learn who I am and be able to guess my approach.
I get one or two emails per week asking about my coaching services, so here is some basic information. I don’t advocate long term agreements, six-month retainers, or flat rate plans. Back to chemistry - if the relationship is working, it will continue. I am happy to charge a la carte - by the hour - for coaching and my rate is $125.00 per hour. I bill after each hour. Let’s keep this easy! I have faith in my coaching and in the process and it has not failed me yet.
When I work with someone as their coach, I focus on what he or she wants to accomplish. My methods are direct and clear. My only requirement is that my clients be coachable (we will discuss what that means).
You might seek coaching to address one particular situation - that’s fine too. I work with several leaders who will contact me here and there when they want a semi-objective nudge or realignment.
All this said, don’t expect miracles from one conversation. But it’s not a bad place to start. If you want to book an hour and see how this works, hit the “Contact” button on the left. Tell me a bit about yourself, why you want coaching, and suggest a day and time.
Consulting
You’ve heard about the Consultant Debunking Unit, right? These are the folks who quickly and gleefully point out that many consultants and their modern day snake oil solutions are a waste of time and money. They are right. Many consulting initiatives are not a good use of your resources.
I prefer to establish long-term relationships with my clients. I don’t do glitzy marketing campaigns and I don’t jet around the country to pitch my particular brand of business. Instead, I develop relationships with leaders and then work on a variety of projects with them. I get to know the people and organization well enough to help them. The organization gets to know me and learn how I can be of service.
My strengths: Results. Focus. Alignment. Nimble change. Project execution. Creating an environment where people do their best work. Leadership. Management.
It is high time to climb up and out of the primordial business consulting slime. No snake oil. No confusing charts and processes that only the consultant can translate. No interventions that become diversions from the one thing that’s most important: getting results and building your organization.
If you’d like to learn more about the work I do, send me an email or give me a call at 206-954-2953. We’ll start small and get to know each other.
